Amy Winehouse Deaths

Many media and tabloids keep telling story about Amy Winehouse’s struggling with drugs and alcohol. Let’s forget about those and just remembering the time when this Grammy award winner captivated the whole world with her song “Rehab” and make TV full of new artists singing blues. Her unique style with towering hair-do and heavy eyeliner, makes Amy Winehouse an unique drawing model for many illustrators. And perhaps many people agree that she looks really great in vintage style art.

R.I.P. Steve Jobs

I believe many people still can’t believe that Steve Jobs was already passed away. Yes, people knew he’s suffering from cancer for years, yet, most of us hoping that he’ll be a survivor and doing his unique presentation each years like he always did. Tribute to Steve Jobs artworks flooding internet only a couple of days after the news broke. Maybe because majority of Apple users are designers or illustrators. We also wrote a blog post about tribute to steve jobs from dribbble and DeviantArt community, click here.

Japan Tsunami

When Japan Tsunami happened, I was in Bali, surrounding by many Japanese teenagers that have vacation to Bali during their school holidays. More than 20.000 people lost their life through this natural disaster. Following by news about nuclear rector leak that forced many Japanese to move out from their town into refugee camp. Everybody wants to help, and many illustrators created artworks about Japanese Tsunami and sell the print for charity.

Royal Wedding

For many girls in the world, this is the moment fairytale come true when Prince William of England married his long term girlfriend Kate Middleton. Even us stopped our working routine for a while and enjoying the lavish wedding, through television of course. This isn’t popular subject among illustrators (maybe they aren’t fairytale fans), but some have a good time drawing the beautiful princess.

K-Pop

K-Pop finally reach its moments in USA. But, many illustrators (especially those from Asia and outside USA) are already become K-Pop fans for quite long time. And it’s easier to find inspiration from K-Pop artists’ lovely faces and unique style. It’s so easy to find K-Pop fan arts on internet, as long as you know the singer or band name. Many illustrators draw their favorite singer, and they drew it with with all their hearts.

iPhone 4s and Siri

Siri rocks the world. Many people scream about when will iPhone 4s will be selling in their country, even long before the phone was released in USA. I just can’t believe that many people really can’t wait to have conversation with a phone. iPhone sleek and distinctive design is very recognizable if you put it in illustrations. Combine it with cute or sexy girls, now it’s perfect.

Middle East War

If you count, I think about 50% of all the news in media is filled with news about Middle East turmoil. From egypt to libya. From Osama bin Laden to Moammar Gaddafi. Everyday we’re hoping that the peace will come to middle east, as soon as possible. And I believe many illustrators hoping for that too.

Occupy Wall street

Occupy Wall Street movements were started in the end of 2011.  The movement is protesting against social and economic inequality, high unemployment, corruption,  influence of corporations on government started in New York, USA and soon spreading into another country. Their slogan “We are the 99%”  refers to income and wealth inequality between the wealthiest people (which is only 1%) and the rest 99%. Some illustrators show their support (or against) to the movement by creating artworks about it.
